Military Calculator Help
Overview
The Military Calculator is a very powerful tool included in Utopia Angel. If filled correctly, it will lead you through your attacks, and make sure they will be successful. In addition, it will provide you extra information, such as your grab size, honor and captured buildings. Brief instructions are available for some of the fields, by moving your mouse over the "?" signs. For complete help, please keep reading.

How to launch?
You can launch the Military Calculator either automatically or manually. For automatic launch, just copy a non-self Crystal-Ball information (either unformatted or from Export Line). The Military Calculator will popup immediately, with the copied information already filled in the right fields. This is the recommended way to use it, since the chance for errors is minimal. There is also a manual way to launch the Military Calculator. Do it from the Main-Menu (accessed by right-clicking on the tray icon). You will have to manually input the values in this case. NOTE: Copying your own province's information will also update the Military Calculator fields in the Attacker Panel, however it will not launch it.

Attacker's Panel
Race
The attacker's race. You will notice some fields are changing in the Military Calculator as you change race, such as military unit names. In addition, some fields will be enabled/disabled based on the race's ability to use them, for instance the "Bloodlust" spell field will be disabled for Elves.

Soldiers
The number of untrained soldiers you would like to send for the attack. Uncheck the Soldiers checkbox to ignore them in the offense strength calculation.

Offense Specialists and Elites
The number of offense specialists and elites you would like to send for the attack. You may manually change their offensive strength values in the Settings window.

Horses
You may include up to one horse per military unit sent in combat, and each offers an additional point of offensive strength. Click on the "Optimize" button to calculate the optimal number of horses to send. NOTE: It is possible to send more horses than military units in the game, however they will not grant you any additional offensive power, and you risk loosing more horses as a result.

DPA at home
DPA stands for Defense per Acre, which is an accepted term in Utopia to describe defense efficiency. Input the value of the DPA you would like to keep at home in this field. The next time you copy your own province's information, the number of Elites to send will be cut if needed, to achieve your requested DPA. NOTE: Untrained soldiers are not counted as defense in this calculation.

Generals to Send
Based on your race, you can choose how many Generals you would like to send with your army. Each additional general increases your offensive bonus, and therefore it is always advisable to send all your Generals to the combat, unless you need to split your army. NOTE: Generals do not contribute to the province's defense.

% Strongholds
Input your Strongholds percentage in this field, as shown in the Internal Affairs advisor screen in the game.

% Utilization
The Utilization percentage affects directly the effectiveness of your Strongholds.

War Science
Input your War Science bonus in this field, as shown in the Science menu in the game.

Relations
Select the relations between your and your target's kingdoms:

- None / Peace: There are no relations between the kingdoms, or at least one of them has declared Peace on the other.

- War: At least one kingdom has declared War on the other. In case your kingdom initiated the War, make sure the target kingdom is at least 80% your kingdom's total Networth. In case it is not, select "None / Peace" option.

- Outside War: Select this option only if your kingdom declared War on another kingdom, which is not your target's.

- Intra-Kingdom: Select this option if you are attacking inside your kingdom.

Attack Style
Select your Attack Style in this field. The currently supported styles are Traditional and Raze. More styles will be added in the future.

Honor
Input your target province's honor in this field. It is used to estimate the honor you will gain in your attack. NOTE: The honor value is displayed in the kingdom's page.

Recently Hit
Attacking a province which was recently hit results in smaller gains. Check out if your target has been recently hit by casting the Crystal-Ball spell on him. The recent hit information is displayed just below the province's information table. NOTE: It is best to let the formatter read this value for you, by selecting the entire screen (CTRL-A) before copying.

Tabs Panel
Military Advisor
Your personal Military Advisor is here to assist you with your attacks. He will tell you the exact values and percentages of your offense and your target's defense strength. He will also advise you if you need to send more or less army for a successful attack. It is recommended to consult the Military Advisor before each attack.

Desired Grab
Here you can request a specific grab size, and the Military Calculator will tell you the target size you should look for.

Spy on Military Translators
Spy on Military (SoM) is a thievery operation used to discover the numbers of troops your target has at home. However, this value is almost always off! The SoM translators use a "secret" algorithm discovered by Kanga, in order to determine the real number of troops the target has at home, using SoM and CB information, or two SoM's. People who are not familiar with this algorithm might find the results a bit strange or even unreal, but tests performed by myself have proven its reliability. NOTE: This is not the simple "ratio" method used by many players, but a much more complicated algorithm. Sometimes the algorithm returns few possible combinations. In that case, the worse combination will be chosen by the translator (i.e.: in which the target has the most troops at home). If you are interested, try to get another SoM on the same target (with the CB you already have), and use the LOWER value returned by the translator.

Here is how to use it: After copying your target's Crystal-Ball information, the Military Calculator will popup, with all the details already filled in the appropriate fields. Now get a SoM report on your target, and copy it (CTRL-C). The SoM Formatter will popup, while already displaying the translated values inside! It will also update the appopriate fields under the "SoM+CB" and "SoM+SoM" tabs in the Military Calculator automatically. Note that you can also fill them manually. By doing so, the real number of troops your target has at home will automatically enter and replace the current values in the appropriate fields in the Defender's panel.

The translation will fail if your target has sent his army to multiple targets, hit the same target multiple times (summing up the numbers will NOT work!), or has Illusionary Forces spell active (affects only the SoM+CB translator).

Report Results
Use this option to report your attack results. Fill in the actual values in the appropriate fields, then press on "Send Report". This will generate an email with the needed fields, and launch your default email client program. All you have left to do is to send it. If the automatic report fails, you may choose to report manually. In this case, the needed information will be copied to your Clipboard, and all you have left to do is to follow the directions. Check the "Don't ask me questions!" checkbox to always use the automatic report option, without asking you to choose between automatic and manual.
